Pick Will begin April 6th, 2020. LAST DAY FOR COLLECTION WILL BE April 17, 2020. Curbside leaf collection rules:

Leaves should be in piles No wider and No higher than 3 feet. ONLY orderly, manageable piles will be collected.

Charges for curbside pickup:

Leaves $10 /Month    Brush $10 /Month   Walnuts $10 /Month

If you put all three out, you will be charged $30 for that month. Leaves, brush & walnuts MUST BE IN SEPARATE PILES.

Village Office Closed to the Public

During the current Coronavirus pandemic and to reduce the spread of the virus:

The Village of Vermontville office is closed to the public until after the April 9 Council Meeting.

Utility bills can be paid on-line through the Village website or left in the drop box in the Village Office entry.

 

 

Community Center Closed

During the current Coronavirus pandemic, and to reduce the spread of the virus & conserve Village resources:

The Village of Vermontville is prohibiting the use of the Vermontville Community Center for community functions until further notice.

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby provided that, in order to comply with recommended guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Executive Order 2020-11 and Executive Directive 2020-02, issued by Governor Whitmer on March 16 and 13, 2020, respectively, and in an effort to reduce the likelihood of spreading the Coronavirus (Covid-19), the Village of Vermontville (the “Village”) has instituted social distancing for attendees and participants for all Village-related meetings including, but not limited to, meetings of the Village Council and Planning Commission.  This includes the Village Council’s March 19, 2020 meeting.

To comply with recommendations for social distancing, public seating in the meeting room has been spaced to provide approximately six feet of distance between seats in the meeting room and, therefore, seating within the meeting room is limited to 15.  Attendees at the meeting are requested to observe social distancing of approximately six feet from other attendees.

The March 19, 2020 Village Council meeting will be held in accordance with Michigan’s Open Meetings Act.

OPENING: DEPUTY CLERK

Employment: Village of Vermontville Deputy Clerk

Candidate will work closely with the Village Clerk to perform administrative work to conduct daily business activities of the village, including statutory clerk functions and implementing village policies. Will assist in keeping records of all council proceedings; handling correspondence on behalf of the village; prepare agendas and execute assignments given by the clerk and village council; and, have official responsibility for accounting of all receipts, disbursements and reconciliations in regard to village funds. Will assist in preparing a variety of financial records, including payroll and excel worksheets.

Hours:  Approximate 18 hours, Salary:  commiserate with experience.

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., or

shortly thereafter, the Planning Commission of the Village of Vermontville will hold a public

hearing at the Vermontville Village Office, 194 S. Main Street, Vermontville, Michigan, on a

proposed ordinance to amend the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Vermontville. The principal

provisions of the proposed amending ordinance can be summarized as follows:

  1. Prohibition on Recreational Marihuana Establishments. The proposed ordinance

would prohibit, in the Village, any and all types of a “marihuana establishment,” as that term is

defined and used in Michigan Initiated Law 1 of 2018, commonly known as the Michigan

Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act.

  1. Prohibition on Commercial Medical Marihuana Facilities. The proposed ordinance

would expressly prohibit, in the Village, any and all types of a “marihuana facility,” as that term

is defined and used in the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act.

  1. Rights Under MMMA Preserved. The proposed ordinance would not limit any

privileges, rights, immunities or defenses of a person as provided in the Michigan Medical

Marihuana Act.

A copy of the proposed amending ordinance is on file and may be examined at the Village

Office, 194 S. Main Street, Vermontville, during Village office hours. All interested persons may

attend the public hearing and comment upon the proposed ordinance. Written comments may be

submitted to the Village office, at the above-stated address, up to and during the time of the public

hearing.

1. Industrial Performance Standards. The proposed ordinance would add a section to the Zoning Ordinance that would provide standards for control of odors and noise in the Light Industrial District. The ordinance provides that any violation of the standards in the ordinance is to be corrected and the costs of correction are to be borne by the violator.
